Stage 29. Altopascio to San Miniato

The initial part of the route runs along a paved section of the beautiful ancient Via Francigena.
After passing the wild and deserted area called Cerbaie, it carries on towards Ponte a Cappiano, where part of the ancient Medici bridge has been converted into a hostel. From here it crosses an old reclaimed swamp and continues uphill towards the fascinating city centre of Fucecchio. After the river Arno it runs along the riverbank to San Miniato.
Water and refreshment stops in Chimenti, Galleno, Ponte a Cappiano and Fucecchio.”
