The route from Horgabost to Tarbert is quite long, but is mainly on good paths and quiet roads. Spectacular views of Horgabost, Sheilebost and Luskentyre lie ahead. The route follows "The Coffin Route", the way used by islanders on the east cost to carry coffins to the west coast. The walk ends in Tarbert, the capital of Harris, with a population of 700 and a fine whisky distillery!
