Our walk along the flat of the valley floor did not last long; we were soon
turning off to the right to tackle yet another massive climb!

Sausages in tomato sauce..... so tasty!

 

From Col Checrouit we took a chair lift and a cable car down to Courmayeur. The Checrouit chair lift descended 550m from an elevation of 2,257m to 1,707m; this was a distance of 1.8 km and took just over 7 minutes. After a short walk we took the Dolonne cable car from an elevation of 1,704m down to 1,211m, an elevation loss of 493m. Combined the lifts saved us 1,043m of descent, a bonus for tired knees!
