Cesare Agostini and Franco Santi discovered Via Flaminia Militare in 1977 after 2 years searching, although their findings were initially rejected by the authority in the area, The University of Bologna.

In the past, the Roman Via Flaminia road connected the cities of Bononia and Aretium (the present-day Bologna and Arezzo).

It was built over two thousand years ago (187 B.C.) on the ridges of the Apennines by the Roman legionnaires of the Consul Caius Flaminius. Neglected and almost disappeared over the centuries, the ancient road was rediscovered in 1977. In the following years, several traces were unearthed.
