Ripon to Sowerby Bridge

Day 11. Hebden Bridge

Hebden Bridge is only 5.25 miles and 7 locks from Sowerby Bridge and we had intended to go there by narrowboat. However, two things influenced our decision, namely lack of water and the fact that you have to book a pasage through the Tuel Tunnel Locks, which can only be used if there is a Canal & Rivers Trust person there. There is a very efficient tran service between Sowerby Bridge and Manchester that follows the line of the Calder Valley, and Hebden Bridge takes just 9 minutes on the train. Hebden Bridge is the second stop, Mytholmroyd (lovely name!) being the first.
