The Green at Writtle

Leaving Writtle Green area via Lodge Road

Turning left into Paradise Road following the footpath signs for Hylands Park

A414 underpass

Just inside the gates is a car park, coffee shop and toilets; the path goes to the right
alongside the children's play area

The path follows the tree line, curving to the left as it approaches the main park exit/entrance

The gate that I expected to leave the park by was locked, so I walked a little further to the main entrance

Crossing the River Wid

The River Wid

You continue up Private Road and cross Goat Hall Lane into Bekeswell Lane

The path swings to the left by the Horse & Groom pub. I should have carried on a bit further before
turning left, but instead I took a route past the pub, along the Race Course and past the church.
This is a pleasant route and arrives at the same point on the main road by the Eagle pub
at Galleywood Common.

The old Race Course

The path goes to the left down Ponds Road, which eventually turns into Lower Green.
The path continues to the right 100 yards into Lower Green

The path goes to the right off Lower Green

The path crosses to the right of the two tall trees, then swings immediately left

The path continues down The Chase, and tuerns right on the road ahead. Shortly after this
there is a left turn into Vicarage Lane after Willow Cottage

A waymarker shows the route of the path across the fields to Great Mascalls farm
