Camino Frances - 2014

Day 4 - Sunday 21st September 2014

Rabanal del Camino to Molinaseca

25.4 km - 6.5 hours

As I had a reservation in Molinaseca there was no pressure to get there early, so I left Rabanal del Camino at 8 o'clock. By that time the sun was just coming up and it was light enough to walk safely on the uneven path without a torch.

Leaving Casa Rural Cruz de Ferro at 8 a.m.

Fairly quiet in Rabanal at that time of day

The trail becomes broken rock as you drop down to Acebo

You feel as though you are almost there when you reach Acebo, but actually it is a long way to Molinaseca

My room was at Hostal El Horno, just over the bridge on the left. By chance I had the same room as last year, which was in the attic but was very spacious.... almost like a self-contained flat. I had a meal at the small store on the corner with Dee and Rose; surprisingly good food considering it was a shop not really a restaurant. John, Chris and Ronni were unable to get a bed in Molinaseca and were forced to take a taxi to take them to a place 3 miles along the path we had just walked. After this their schedule seemed to be out of synch with mine, and I did not see them again. This was regrettable as I enjoyed having a beer with John.
