The Arc de Diane is the main vestige of the Roman baths Divona Cadurcorum,
the Gallo-Roman city which later became Cahors . Contrary to what its
name suggests, it is not a temple dedicated to the goddess Diana.

THE PILGRIM'S PRAYER
ON THE ROAD TO COMPOSTELA

O God, You who called your servant Abraham
from the town of Ur of the Chaldees,
and who protected him
all along his wanderings;
O You who were the guide of the people of Israel
in the desert; We ask You to accompany us
we your servants, who for the love of your Name,
are undertaking this pilgrimage
to Santiago de Compostela.
Be for us,
a companion on our route,
a guide at cross-roads,
our support when tired,
our defence in danger,
a shelter on the Road,
shade during the heat,
light in the darkness'
consolation in our discouragement,
our strength when making decisions,
so that, under your guidance,
we may arrive safe and sound
at the end of our Road, and thus
enriched by grace and virtues,
we may return home
unharmed and full of a healthy
and lasting joy,
Through Jesus Christ Our Lord, Amen.

St James the Apostle, pray for us,
Mary, Our Lady of the Road, pray for us.

"Walk in the name of Christ who is the Way
and pray for us at Compostela"
