Built in the middle of the 12th century by King Alaungsithu, the grandson and successor of Kyanzittha who built Ananda Temple.Thatbyinnyu rises to a height of 201 feet, and is the largest temple in Bagan. It is similar to Ananda, but is not symmetrical. The eastern porch alone projects considerably from the wall.
