Tenerife 2017

La Caleta Walk

Saturday 14th October 2017

Descending the 77 steps from the Riu Arecas Hotel to the beach, we turned right in front of the Riu Palace Hotel Gardens, which come down to the promenade. The black volcanic sand beach is currently fenced off for renovation work. We passed the light brown coloured Mexican looking Sheraton Hotel, and climbed the promontory at the end of the beach. This gave us good views over Playa de la Enramada and the H10 Costa Adeje Palace Hotel. From here it was a short walk into the old village and port of La Caleta, where we chilled out for a while and had a coffee. Leaving La Caleta we climbed a steep hill on to scrub land. The path continues around the coast line, but we turned inland and came to the T3 Tenerife Top Training Center with its two large swimming pools and a running track. From here we dropped back down into La Caleta and had lunch. It was then a short walk back to Riu Arecas.
