The Practical

This trip was intended as a "rest & recouperation" exercise for those of us who had been under the surgeon's knife (Jim and I), but ended up being quite an energetic holiday with little "rest" involved at all! We based it on a two week package on offer from Thompson Holidays flying out of Gatwick Airport with Norwegian, and staying at the Riu Arecas Hotel in Costa Adeje on half board. Breakfast and Dinner were buffet style with different dishes being offered each day, with some of the food being individually prepared. Overall the food was excellent and of a very high standard. They have a small Spanish restuarant available at no extra cost but requiring a reservation

Date From To ETD ETA

Flights were 40 minutes to an hour late in both directions; transfer to and from Hotel Riu Arecas by bus took approximately 30 minutes.

Hotel Arecas

401 room 4-star hotel located 200 meters from the beach and behind its sister 5-star hotel Riu Palace. Riu Arecas is "adults only" whereas Riu Palace takes families including children. Riu Arecas has two good sized swimming pools and a gym; there is also a garden area close to the beach with an "infinity" pool and coffee shop.
