Bog Bean or Menyanthes Trifoliata.

This rare plant is only found in the Hebrides. When in flowers (for a couple of weeks in May) the thick stems are topped off with delicate pink buds that emerge to form distinctive white flowers which reflect in the calm crystal waters of peat bog pools. As they mature they form floating mats which are used by dragon flies to provide egg laying sites.
