I left Hotel Undici Rose at 7 a.m.; I could not get out of the place quick enough as the smell in the bathroom had gotten onto my chest. I went round to a coffee shop just off the Piazza di Plebicite, San Leonardo, and had coffee and croissant times two! Hendrika (spelling? - a German lady who I had met before) came in and after breakfast we left together. There are two routes between Viterbo and Vetralla, one 22 km and one 17km. The Via Francigena app shows the longer route; Hendrika was using the "SloWays" app which showed the shorter route.

Piazza della Morte

We walked around to the Palazzo dei Papi, as the Via Francigena goes down steps there
and down to the Porta di Valle gate in the city walls
via Via San Clemente.

In Vetralla you drop down to a main road by traffic lights, and climb up the other side to the town centre. At first I though that this building was the place that I was staying, but it is actually a restaurant owned by the brother of the man who runs Albergo da Benedetta, a family business. If you are standing facing this building, the Albergo is about 500 m behind you in a quiet residential area
