Ananda Temple

Built by Kyanzittha in 1091 A.D., Ananda Temple is one of the finest and most venerated temples in Bagan. It consists of a squae plan with 200 foot sides, broken on each side by a large vestibule. The inside consists of two high vaulted narrow passages running parallel to each other along the four sides. Central niches on each of the four sides contain huge Buddha images, two of which are original and the other two are later replicas.
