Uzes

 

  Uzes, 17 kilometers further towards the start of the aqueduct, is a lovely town perched on a hill above the River Alzon. Half a dozen medieval towers, including the Pisa-like Tour Fenestrelle, rise above its tiled roofs and narrow lanes of Renaissance and Neoclassical houses. Like its neighbour Nimes, the town grew rich on the textile trade.
